Respiratory Therapist
Job Description
The Respiratory Therapist will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with respiratory conditions, ensuring optimal respiratory function and patient comfort. This role includes managing ventilator-dependent patients, performing pulmonary function tests, and providing emergency respiratory care when needed. The Respiratory Therapist will also educate patients and their families on managing chronic respiratory conditions, such as COPD or asthma, and implement strategies to improve their quality of life. Additionally, the role involves maintaining and troubleshooting respiratory therapy equipment, participating in patient care planning, and working closely with doctors and nurses to deliver comprehensive respiratory care. This position requires excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
Job Requirements
A valid Respiratory Therapist license.
Extensive experience in managing ventilator-dependent patients and conducting arterial blood gas analysis.
Proficient in administering respiratory therapy treatments such as bronchodilators, oxygen therapy, and nebulization.
Strong knowledge of pulmonary function testing and sleep studies.
Ability to operate and maintain respiratory therapy equipment, including ventilators, CPAP, and BiPAP machines.
Experience in providing respiratory care in emergency and intensive care settings.
Ability to educate patients and families on managing chronic respiratory conditions.
Familiarity with weaning protocols and post-extubation care.
Excellent problem-solving skills in acute respiratory situations.
Ability to work effectively as part of a critical care team.
