Truck Driver
Job Description
The Truck Driver will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods across various routes, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with all traffic and safety regulations. This role involves operating heavy-duty trucks, performing routine vehicle inspections, and maintaining accurate delivery logs. The Truck Driver will also be responsible for loading and unloading cargo, securing loads to prevent shifting during transit, and adhering to company policies and procedures. In addition to driving, the role may involve coordinating with dispatchers, planning routes to maximize efficiency, and managing delivery schedules to meet customer demands. The ideal candidate will have a strong safety record, excellent driving skills, and the ability to work independently for extended periods.
Job Requirements
Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
Proven experience as a truck driver with knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
Ability to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
Experience with different types of trucks, such as flatbeds, tankers, or tractor-trailers, depending on the job specifics.
Strong understanding of load securement and weight distribution to ensure safe transport.
Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance tasks.
Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and maintaining accurate delivery records.
Ability to plan routes effectively, using GPS and other navigation tools to optimize delivery times.
Physical ability to load and unload cargo, including lifting heavy items when necessary.
Good communication skills and the ability to work independently for extended periods.
